Alaska Elopement

Autumn & Tyler

Knik Glacier Helicopter Elopement – Palmer, Alaska

A single day helicopter adventure with ceremony & multiple landings

Moody Helicopter Adventure Elopement

Autumn and Tyler’s Alaska elopement began at their cute cabin off Knik River Road close to where we were flying later that day. They spent the morning getting ready together without any rush, Tyler carefully helped pin the final pieces of Autumn’s hair into place. Once in wedding attire they surprised each other for a first look before we headed over to meet the helicopter.

A few hours later, they were standing in a wildflower-filled alpine meadow overlooking the Knik Glacier, exchanging vows beneath a hanging glacier and cascading waterfalls. From there we explored dramatic glacier ice, celebrated with champagne beside a secluded alpine lake, and finished the helicopter adventure by a massive blue ice wall.

Why Choose the Knik Glacier for your Helicopter Elopement?

Just over an hour from Anchorage, the Knik Glacier is a truly breathtaking place to elope in Alaska. Stretching more than 25 miles long and 5 miles wide the glacier is surrounded by the towering peaks of the Chugach Mountains, hanging glaciers, waterfalls, alpine meadows, and turquoise lakes. Helicopter allows you to access these remote locations, making it possible to exchange vows in complete solitude while surrounded by spectacular scenery.

For Autumn and Tyler, that meant saying their vows in a secluded alpine meadow blanketed in wildflowers with a hanging glacier and cascading waterfalls towering above them. From there, we jumped back in the helicopter and landed on the ice itself, celebrated with champagne and cake beside a crystal-clear alpine lake, and finished the day at the base of a big blue ice wall. Each landing felt completely different, giving them several unforgettable experiences in just a few hours.

Whether you’re dreaming of a quiet ceremony on glacier ice, or picnicking beside an alpine lake, a helicopter elopement on the Knik Glacier is an adventurous an unforgettable way to celebrate!

Elopement Timeline Tips

Here are just a few quick tips & tricks to help ensure a stress free, fun wedding day!

  • Always allow more time than you think you need especially here in Alaska where everything is so spread out.
  • For Helicopter Elopements I recommend leaving at least one day on either side of your elopement just in case weather is a problem.
  • Don’t feel like you have to plan out every second of the day, leave open time in there to soak in a beautiful views, take a few extra minutes snuggling together on the coach or even make a spontaneous stop! You don’t want to feel like you’re constantly rushing to the next activity – allow yourself time to just be present!

If you’re looking to elope along a glacial lake with icebergs then off road vehicles or planes offer a fun alternative for your elopement adventure.

By mid May the snow has melted enough and you can experience the beautiful blue pools that the Knik Glacier has become famous for.
June through September is my favorite time for couples hoping to include alpine wildflowers and lush green mountainsides. Fall offers vibrant autumn colors and fewer visitors, while winter helicopter elopements provide an entirely different experience with snow-covered landscapes.

Most couples budget between $3000-$7000 for their helicopter charter.
